Started playing Total War Pharoah with Kailey today and i'm finding it a serious adjustment to be able to play this "type" of game. I've never been very good at RTS games, but i'm trying to keep myself calm and remember that the whole pioint is you don't "always win". Sometimes that's the point, is that you learn from the mistakes made and go back to try again; not unlike dying in the Forest. It's just a different win/lose loop, as you essentially learn how to adjust strategies to different outcomes, rrather than a single behavior that can always lead to victory.
### Sieges and Settlement Defense
When a settlement is being seiged, the attacker has to break through that Settlements walls. This can be difficult if the settlement being attacked is one of you minor settlements, as they don't have many defenses.
To that end, the Attacker has to build seige equipment and runs the risk of losing said equipment if they have to flee mid-siege. This can be done via the siege menu if you're the attacker.
If you are defending in this scenario, you have until your supplies run out to block off the enemy Siege. Once your supplies run low, your settlement suffers Attrition. If there is a stationed army in your city, they can sally out and fight the besieging army rather than defending.
When siege is underway, a timer will show how long the defending settlement/city has until it is overtaken. If an army is stationed it can always choose to sally out instead of waiting out the timer, attempting a counterattack prior to the timer expiring.
It's important to double check what allies an opponent has before you jump into war with them, as their allies can provide support. Isolate, then assault.
